Machines cannot understand culture. One might come to the conclusion that translation cannot be complete without the human touch. Bridging the gap between human and machine translation – neural machine translation (NMT) – has been fluently improving, fewer segments need further editing, NMT produces fewer errors and is rated highly for adequacy. But where is the ethics in machine and CAT translation? What about source-text writers and post-editors who bring machine translation output up to standard that is fit for purpose? Are future graduates prepared for new skills? This and more will be the topic of our panel discussion with Balazs Kis, Joss Moorkens, Matej Vlačiha and Rado Tihlárik.
